Tom Coyle

Tom Coyle leads the SeeBreeze Wireless Division and is a Vice President at Mark IV Industries. Mark IV is a global manufacturer of highly engineered systems and components for vehicles, equipment and transportation infrastructure. Mark IV is a leading provider of RFID systems and is the largest toll tag manufacturer today. Mark IV is best known as the maker of EZPass transponders and readers. SeeBreeze Wireless is developing innovative wireless solutions for asset and transportation management applications.

Tom’s career focus has been to deliver wireless technology solutions for the supply chain, transportation and retail customers. He led Sales & Marketing efforts for Matrics, Inc., a leading RFID hardware provider which was acquired by Symbol (now Motorola) in 2004. At Savi Technology (now Lockheed Martin), Tom was the Director of Strategic Alliances. Savi is a leading provider of active RFID hardware and software solutions.

As director of business development at Texas Instruments, Tom led efforts for RFID and GPS-based tracking solutions. Tom held consulting and management positions at EG&G (Cambridge, MA) supporting efforts at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. He was a supply chain analyst for General Electric.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where he received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management. He began his career as a test pilot and maintenance manager with an air cavalry unit in the U.S. Army. Tom was the Founder and past President of the Kendall Square Learning Project, an adult literacy program based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was named Volunteer of the Year by the Massachusetts Coalition for Adult Education.
 
   
 
Robert Kaehler, CPPS

As a recognized futurist in the rising field of asset management, Robert Kaehler is an engaging speaker who addresses all aspects of asset management including organizational compliance with mandates and regulations. His expertise has been used by numerous businesses and government agencies to significantly improve asset visibility and increase strategic intelligence of all enterprise assets. He is an acknowledged expert in helping enterprises comply better with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act through holistic lifecycle asset management from both financial and process perspectives, along with the application of best business practices to internal systems and procedures. Kaehler has been a featured speaker at The Performance Institute, an independent think-tank based in Washington, D.C., the General Services Administration (GSA), the National Property Management Association, the International Association of IT Asset Managers, numerous regional conferences and worldwide webcasts, and a featured guest on nationwide radio. Most recently, he was named to the Board of Advisors of the Asset Management Conference and Expo, the first event to comprehensively examine integrated asset management processes.

Kaehler currently serves as Senior Vice President of AssetSmart, a leader in fully integrated asset management systems. He spent the past five years as General Manager of Sunflower Systems, and was responsible for growing the company from a two-person development shop to a recognized leader in asset management systems. He oversaw all operations as the company grew from start-up to over 50 employees. Prior to Sunflower, Kaehler served as Vice President and General Manager of US operations and was a member of the Board of Directors at Proactive Systems. He was instrumental in growing the company's revenues 1500% in three years. After Proactive Systems was acquired by JetForm Corporation, Kaehler was responsible for Jetform’s business throughout the western United States. Prior to Proactive Systems, Kaehler was vice president of marketing for Pantechnic, Inc., and also held management positions with Citicorp and Manufacturers Hanover. Kaehler holds a degree in economics from Pepperdine University.
 
 
Frank “Chip” Knowlton

Frank “Chip” Knowlton, an Associate Partner within IBM’s Global Business Services Business Unit, leverages his 22 years of industrial operations environment experience to perform process improvement/business process reengineering, team facilitation, project management, financial analysis, and maintenance/materials management services for a variety of public and private sector clients. As the Leader for the Enterprise Asset Management Service Area within IBM’s Supply Chain Practice, Chip is responsible for the operational, solution design and deployment, resource development and assignment, and delivery excellence aspects of a variety of Enterprise Asset Management engagements for various Public and Industrial Sector clients. These engagements encompass the Total Life Cycle Asset Management key processes (strategy, plan, design, procure, operate, maintain, modify, dispose) for asset types such as facilities, fleet, equipment, continuous and IT. He is also organizationally responsible for the administrative management, coaching, and professional development of over 80 consultants within his direct management chain. Mr. Knowlton has been actively engaged as an integral member of the Public Sector Customs Ports and Border Management team that is supporting key CPBM initiatives such as Secure Trade Lanes, RFID infrastructure design and deployment, and port facilities and operational management. Chip is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with a BS in Marine Engineering.
 
 
Paul Nesbitt

As Executive Director of the National Property Management Association, Inc., Paul Nesbitt heads up the professional membership organization for those people who have to manage and track inventoried materials, equipment, vehicles or other physical assets for their organization. Property managers are positioned to play a key role in effective, efficient asset management, resulting in cost savings and cost avoidance throughout the entire property life cycle: from determination of requirements, through acquisition, utilization and disposition.

Prior to that, he was a manager with AT&T for 20 years, working in several AT&T locations besides Tampa, including, Atlanta, GA, Topeka, KS, Nashville, TN, and at Bell Labs in New Jersey. Prior to joining AT&T, he began his career as a high school teacher and taught for seven years in Kansas. Paul earned his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism at the University of Kansas, and his M.B.A. at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
 
 
Kenneth Porad

Boeing Commercial Airplanes

Ken is responsible for overall technical management for the marking of parts within the Commercial Airplanes Group and is also the Boeing engineering representative to the Air Transport Association’s task force, which developed the industry standard parts marking format. His current focus is to establish an aviation industry standard for radio frequency identification of parts and certify their safe use on commercial airplanes.

Ken joined the Boeing Company in April 1980 and has held increasingly responsible positions within engineering and management in both the Aircraft & Missile Systems and Commercial Airplanes business units. His formal education includes a Bachelor of Science degree earned at Southern Illinois University and a Master of Science degree earned at the University of Southern California.

The Boeing Company is the largest aerospace company in the world and is the United States’ leading exporter. It is NASA’s largest contractor and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners, satellites and military aircraft. The company’s capabilities in aerospace also include rotorcraft, electronic and defense systems, missiles, rocket engines, launch vehicles and advanced information and communication systems. Robert P. Leibrandt

Program Development and Implementation Office

Rob Leibrandt is the Deputy Program Manager for Unique Identification in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. His primary duties include gaining support in both the International Standards and Industrial partner communities for UID and he is also the lead technical contact for Program Management, Engineering and Logistics Implementation of UID. Mr. Leibrandt also manages all communication and outreach activities including training, conferences, liaison relationships and International partnerships.

From 2002 to 2004 Mr. Leibrandt served as the Defense Acquisition University liaison to the Director, Defense Procurement and Acquisition Policy. During this period he began to support the Unique Identification (UID) Program Office. As the UID initiative exploded in scope and importance to the USD(AT&L), Mr. Leibrandt was selected as the Deputy Program Manager.

Mr. Leibrandt is a 2001 graduate of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces where he focused on Information Systems and the European Union. After graduation he served in strategic planning positions for DAU.

In 1992 Mr. Leibrandt was selected to serve as a founding team member of the Defense Acquisition University. The DAU was established to provide a consistent and high quality training experience across Service and contracted training efforts. He led all the engineering and program management curriculum modernization. Mr. Leibrandt led the way in migrating courses to distance learning and split delivery formats saving time and financial resources.

Mr. Leibrandt is a 1986 graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and in 1994 he earned a Masters in Business Administration at St Ambrose University, Davenport IA. . He began his career as an engineering cooperative education employee in 1982 with the Armament and Munitions Chemical Command and the Rock Island Arsenal. In 1988 he taught Engineering Management and Manufacturing Technology courses for the Army Management Engineering College.
